Challenge: Use a WOW tutorial to create a layout!

Ok, so by now you’re hopefully settling into your new 2010 routine. I wish I could say that I was right there with you, but I haven’t quite gotten into my groove yet. Yes, I realize that January is half over, but I’m slow to change.

Despite my lack of routines and grooviness, I thought it would be fun to issue you a challenge.

Are you ready?

Challenge: Use one of our previous “Work It Out Wednesday” tutorials to create a layout.

Easy–right?!!

All you need to do is browse through our 27 “Wow” tutorials and pick at least one technique to include on your project. Once you’ve completed the project, take a photo or scan the layout, upload it to your favorite online gallery, link us to your project in the comments section below and MAKE SURE to let us know which WOW(s) inspired you!

I’m so excited to see what tickled your fancy!

Need an incentive?

How about a giveaway package?!! Yep. We’ll send one random participant a fabulous prize package from one of our fabulous sponsors.

Need more incentives?

We’ll also feature some of our favorites on an upcoming blog post!

This is going to be fun. And just to prove how easy it is to participate, I’m going to show my take on this challenge.

House of 3 – LIVE!

Last week I had a blast ringing in the New Year with Heidi Swapp, Rhonna Farrer, and Janet Hopkins, a.k.a. the House of 3. During a LIVE web show, they shared an inspiring New Year’s project – Simply Amazing 2010. The new streaming format chosen by the ladies of House of 3 is the simplest way to watch a live show on the web – just click on the link and there it is. You don’t even have to log in (though if you do, you can take advantage of special deals and giveaways, like the Silhouette giveaway going on now).  It is literally as easy as watching TV!

houseof3

This week, the ladies are at it again with a totally new LIVE, INTERACTIVE, and FREE web show tomorrow night, January 13. Heidi and some very special guests have teamed up with Silhouette to share amazing projects using House of 3 designs. Heidi will be demonstrating just how the Silhouette works from start to finish, how it can enhance your creative process, and she’ll be sharing some of her personal tips and techniques to spark your own creativity.

According to the House of 3 blog, tomorrow night is going to be“…a whole hour dedicated to sharing, showing, teaching, laughing, creating, inspiring, and maybe even some more dancing. LOL!” What more could you ask for?

Even if you don’t own a Silhouette, there will be plenty of design inspiration for everyone. (Did I mention a free Silhouette giveaway?) House of 3 will also be offering a special bundle that includes some of their exclusive designs. So join House of 3 here on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at 7pm MST. You’re sure to be inspired!

If you missed last week’s show, you can still watch it here. The kit shown is available for purchase on the House of 3 website.

Hero Arts Giveaway!

Have you seen the latest Hero Arts Catalog? I know that I’ve been pouring over its pages rubbing my hands in excitement at each new stamp. You know how I love stamping!

Well Hero Arts has graciously agreed to give away a few stamp sets to one of our blog readers! Are you interested? I thought so. :)

The first stamp in our giveaway set is the “Say Hello” stamp –a Clear Acrylic stamp which has the most darling details which can easily be colored in (isn’t that owl adorable):

CL378

I think the “Bugs & Kisses” stamp goes perfectly with the “Say Hello” stamp so we’ve included it in this giveaway set as well. This is also a clear acrylic stamp:

CL413

Every stamper needs a great background stamp, and this “Dots and Stripes” stamp is just the kind of stamp you’ll want to add to your collection. (This is a cling stamp, which functions like a clear stamp but with a thicker rubber backing):

CG150

And finally, I think you’ll like this traditional wood stamp–”The Silhouette Fern” which is just lovely and I’m imagining it in several different juicy colors:

K5314

Now who wouldn’t want this giveaway?!! Just leave a comment in the comments section for this post, and we’ll select a winner by Sunday, January 10 (midnight MST time). The winner will be posted on January 11th so be sure to check back then.

And a big THANK YOU to Hero Arts for their generous donation! Any time you’re in need of some great stamping inspiration, be sure to check out their amazing blog!

Create. Give. Enjoy! – How do YUDU?

There is still time to enter to win the final Grand Prize for our Create. Give. Enjoy! So leave a comment for a chance to win a Cricut Create.

Provo Craft has done it again with the Yudu screen printing system. This all inclusive system makes screen printing easy for the home crafter. But the creative possibilites go way beyond t-shirts.

3_project_hero_mThis shirt reminds me of one I recently found in a Park City, UT boutique – for $200! And all the instructions are available right on the Yudu website. You will also find instructions and techniques for printing on all types of materials. A little practice, the included videos, along with the tutorials available on the Yudu website, make short work of creating your first print.

Erin Basset has a series of Yudu projects on her blog including this very trendy chandelier.

Create. Give. Enjoy! Vinyl Dreams

Vinyl stickers have been around for a long time. I remember going to the county fair as a teen and picking out Calvin and Hobbes or Skate Punk white stickers and littering my locker with them. More recently, beautiful vinyl shapes and lettering can be found in many homes as a wonderful way to add a decorative touch to any room. But vinyl’s versatility coupled with some creative juju makes for some really cool projects.

RF_seasonofgivingRhonna Farrer used her Silhouette digital cutter and House of 3 digital downloads to create these wonderful custom popcorn jars. Be sure to stop by the House of 3 blog to see more.
