One thing that scrapbooking has brought into my life is the opportunity to learn new skills. When digital scrapbooking first appeared on the scrapbooking scene, I felt intimidated. I was in awe of the beautiful products and lovely projects that designers were creating, but I had no idea where to start or if I would be able to learn the skills necessary for digital designing.

So I’ve challenged myself to complete one digital layout a week. I watch videos located on the web. I ask lots of questions from fellow digital designers. And I look to great idea books like this one to teach me these new skills:

And so after my research and much trial and error, my first weekly challenge produced the following layout:
