Have you ever looked at our covers and dreamed about having your own layout featured? We love showcasing reader layouts on our covers and are always on the lookout for new ones. Here is a brief list of elements we watch for:
Photography
- A great photo is crucial for a cover layout
- One or two pictures is preferred
- The picture should either tell a story or be an eye-catching photo that has good eye contact with the reader
- Close-up photos that express emotion work well
- The photo should be dominant on the layout
Layout Design
- Engaging and striking layouts, with great design elements
- 12 x 12” , 6 x 6” and 8.5 x 11” all work (8.5 x 11” layouts must be vertical)
- Design should be well-crafted; not too busy, but with excellent elements and embellishments that add interest to the page
- Strong title
- Journaling is preferred, but not required. Journaling should be brief and keep the focus on the photography and design
- Digital layouts are accepted
We invite you to send layouts that fit the above criteria to submit@scrapbooktrendsmag.com with Cover Submission in the subject line.

Tantalizing Tools
I am sure that you have already heard all the buzz surrounding the Provo Craft Gypsy. (An add on to the Cricket that allows you to load all your cartridges to the unit so you don’t have to bring them with you.) But this show proved to have a strong showing in the category of tools. This is probably due to the fact that tools have much more impact when used in person. Most tools just don’t translate as well online or in print.
Ellison gets a major two thumbs up with the Score Board line of dies. These dies are specially designed to cut AND score mat board. This allows the user to create some amazing boxes and holders. The creative possibilities are endless. And the best part is that the dies work in your existing Big Shot.

Martha Stewart Crafts introduced the Punch Around the Page line. Each pattern consists of two coordinating punches. One corner punch and one border punch. The combination allows the user to easily create the look of an intricate die cut border, all around the page. The punches can also be used individually.

Do you want one of these cool punch sets? Leave a comment to win one of a set of Punch Around the Page punches by Martha Stewart Crafts and a prize package of other fun Martha Stewart Crafts goodies! We have 2 of these to give away! You have until August 7, 2009 -11:59pm MTN time to enter. Good luck!!!
(for more chances to Facebook Friends and Twitter followers are automatically entered as well!)
More from the show floor and the CHA Craft Show for consumers!
