Scrap by Color

Picture 6

Scrapbook.com has a new online tool called Scrap by Color. If you’re looking for a fresh color scheme to compliment one of your photos, all you need to do is upload your photo and the tool will spit out a grid of colors that compliment your picture. You can also pick colors from the color wheel to get a scheme if your photos aren’t online or you’re just looking for some general color inspiration. This sounds like a fun way to change things up if you’re feeling stuck in a color rut!

Tool Talk: Embossing Folders

I am cleaning my office this morning and putting away some of my recent scrapbook purchases, and I thought it might be fun to discuss some of the tools that I have that I use often and love much. One of the items I bought yesterday was a new embossing folder for my die cut machine. I am thoroughly addicted to embossing folders. I thought I would share some of the ones that I’ve noticed (and several that I own).

Some of the first embossing folders that I purchased came from Provo Craft and work with the Cuttlebug Machine. I think the folder I use most often is the “Swiss Dots” folder as seen here:

Another one that I love from Provo Craft is the “Houndstooth” folder:

37-1167

In addition to background folders, Provo Craft also has border embossing folders like this “Border Frills” set:

37-1172

There are several other companies that make beautiful embossing folders, this is the folder “Polka Dots (pattern)” that I purchased from Quickutz just yesterday:

If you like journaling blocks, then you will love this “Journaling Block” embossing folder from Quickutz as well:

EF-A2-032

Sizzix sells their Textured Impressions Embossing Folders in sets. Don’t you love this “Argyle & Lines & Circles” set?

And if you have a smaller project you want to emboss, then a set like the “Spring Set” will you options for smaller embossing pieces, as well as, the larger folder

And just for fun here is a project using the Polka Dots (Pattern) embossing folder from Quickutz
