Create. Give. Enjoy! Martha Stewart Giveaway

All that Glitters!

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is all the glitter and glitz. In fact, I love any excuse to get my glitter on!

Martha Stewart Crafts glitter is so brilliant and the colors are simply gorgeous. This season Martha also released some scrumptious tinsel cut glitter. If you look closely, you can see that it is cut into longer threads – very beautiful. She also has some vintage inspired mica flake glitter. Both are perfect for all your holiday decorating!

Leave a comment for a chance to win a Martha Stewart Glitter collection! And remember, there are just a few more hours to enter to win last week’s grand prize Creatopia Giveaway.  We will post the winners circle tomorrow morning… GOOD LUCK!

Create. Give. Enjoy! Creatopia GIVEAWAY!

Did you make it on the “nice” list this year? If so, you will most definitely want to ask Santa for a Creatopia. This machine is downright amazing. I have to admit that when I first heard about the Creatopia by Xyron, I was really impressed with how great it sounded, but wasn’t sure if I needed it or just wanted it. After all, I already have a Xyron, a die cut machine, and more. But after playing with it and seeing the functionality, I’ve decided. It is a need.

Not only does this machine laminate and apply adhesive, the Creatopia has a cutting insert and can die press shapes! You can cut 12″ wide paper, cardstock, transparencies (and more) into any width, with either straight or decorative edges. And, unlike previous models, the Creatopia allows you to run items up to a half inch thick through. A major time-saver when trying to cover chipboard shapes or mat board cut outs.

In our house, we decided to make an ornament a day during December.  It sounded like a fun idea back in September! Now that we are smack dab in the middle of all the holiday mayhem, I need to come up with some quick and easy ornaments, and wanted to share this one with you. I hope you have fun creating some ornaments with your family this holiday season.

Create. Give. Enjoy! Holiday Count Down

I just love this time of year. The lights, the music, and of course the festive decorations and gift giving! While perusing through my copy of  December issue of Simply Handmade, I fell in love with these little gift boxes created by Renae Curtz. I love the modern twist she put on the traditional matchbox by using wood sheets to create the boxes.

gift boxes simply handmadeIt is the last day of November, so I guess I better get moving to make my own holiday countdown. Luckily, these are proving to be really easy to make. Renae die cut the boxes from wooden sheets; leaving the wood raw is a great look and helps  make this project come together quickly. (Texture Cuts Wood Sheets, Tree Trimmings stamps, Bigz XL die all available from Stampin’ Up!)

WOW #17: Digital Holiday Cards

This is the perfect time of year to start your holiday cards. So for today’s “Work It Out Wednesday” I’m going to show you how to do some quick and easy digital cards.

Supplies: You will need a photo to use for the card, a digitally downloaded card, the printing shop of your choice.

Step 1: Download the digital card from the website of your choice. (Follow directions on the website to do this correctly). Cards come in two choices: 5X7 or 4X8. I chose a 5X7 card from Erica Hernandez, and a 4X8 card from Sande Krieger to show you both options.

Step 2: Open the card in your photo editing program.

Step 3: Open the photo you’ve chosen in your photo editing program.

Screen-shot-2

Step 4: Change the image size of your photo to fit the card. In this case, I needed one that was 3.5″ T X 5.2″ W.

Step 5: Drag photo over to card.

Step 6: Open a new layer on the card. We will be inserting text into that blank bubble.

Step 7: Insert text in whatever color you desire. I chose a red that matched the “merry” word.

Step 8: Flatten image and save. Then you can upload it to any online printing site and have the cards printed and mailed to you.

Here’s my finished card:

Holiday card 1

(Supplies: Cards Simple Easy Peasy 2009 Holiday 1, Erica Hernandez for www.twopeasinabucket.com; Vintage Typewriter font from www.scrapvillage.com)

This card will print as a 5X7 card, which opens for a special message or a signature from you and your family. If you prefer the photo cards that fit in business size envelopes, then you will want to select a 4X8 card. To give you another option, I created this one. Follow steps 1-8 to complete the card.

Holiday-Card-2

The thing I love about digital cards, is that I can mass produce them just by printing more. You gotta love something that easy!
