I’m a pretty straightforward, linear, clean scrapbooker . . . meaning I like things perfectly placed. But recently I’m really drawn to the layouts in which elements are more whimsically placed. A good layout is designed with intention. And whether you put your elements all in a row or mix it up, if you start with a good plan it looks great either way.
So I’m challenging myself a bit today. For today’s “Work It Out Wednesday” we’re going to take our design off the edge of our paper.
Here’s a look at the layout we’re creating today so you can see what I mean:
As you can see, one the photos is cut off on the side of the page. This is what I mean by “Designing Off the Edge.” Continue to reading to see how you can use this same idea on your layouts!
As my kids head back to school this week, I’ve had visions of school supplies dancing through my head. Most of my children’s classrooms have converted from chalkboards to whiteboards, but I still enjoy the feel of chalk between my fingers (although, the dust tickling my nose I could do without).
Let’s go back to school ourselves and play with chalk today! For today’s “Work It Out Wednesday” let’s pull out an older staple–chalk and use it to add shading and dimension to a project.

My Mom took one summer and decided that she was going to teach us to sew. As part of that lesson, each of girls received a pin cushion. I have had that pin cushion ever since. Recently I’ve been seeing push pins show up on scrapbook layouts. So for today’s “Work It Out Wednesday” I wanted to show you one way to add pins to your layout.

I’m over-the-moon for today’s tutorial, brought to you by our lovely guest crafter, Dawn Woleslagle. I’m in love with this pretty flower. Dawn used it on a card, but imagine the possibilities! Can you picture a pillow covered in these beauties? Be still my heart! Thank you, Dawn, for the wonderful tutorial! Let’s get started!
Making these gorgeous roses is actually quite easy and quick. You may be surprised at just how quickly you can create tons of these after just a little practice.
That’s quite a mouthful isn’t it? “A pattern within a pattern.” But what I have to show you today is a unique twist on dressing up patterned paper, and I think you’re going to love it!
Patterned paper comes in many different styles: solid background, patterned background, scenes, border strips, bold patterns, etc. For today’s “Work It Out Wednesday” we are going to work with a border strip patterned paper. And to dress it up, we’ll use stamps to create the “pattern within a pattern.”

Cloth Napkins – Cute, Easy and Eco-conscious!
We crafters are constantly on the lookout for easy and fast handmade gifts. With all the fall weddings quickly approaching I am turning to one of my favorite “go-to” gifts: a set of handmade cloth napkins. Not only are they eco-conscious, but they are also super cute and trendy, can match whatever kitchen they need to, and are a snap to make!
