Each year, I help my mom wrap Christmas gifts (with the exception of my own, of course – she kicks me out when it’s time to pull those out). And every year we try something new when it comes to the wrapping. Last year we wrapped all our gifts in kraft paper and used bright and colorful ribbons and tags; the year before we printed out pictures of the people receiving the gifts and wrote “to” in the corner and on the back we wrote who it was from. This year we have decided to keep it simple again; we want the tag and bow to be the main focus. So I couldn’t help but remember a simple yet beautiful tag in the December 2009 issue made by Maile Belles. Check it out below:

If you want to make this lovely tag yourself, simply follow these instructions:
Punch a tag from white cardstock, emboss snowflakes on the tag, and stitch a button and a ribbon loop to the top of the tag. Punch a green cardstock circle, then attach it to the bottom right edge of the tag using foam adhesive. Stamp a sentiment on a white cardstock strip and place it on the bottom of the punched circle. Die cut a snowflake from cardstock, then set it on the left edge of the punched circle using a brad.
Supplies: Cardstock, ribbon, stamps, ink: Papertrey Ink; Floss: Craft supply; Brads, buttons: Making Memories; Punches: Creative Memories; Die cut machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft (Snowflakes die, Snowflakes embossing folder)
Easy, yet elegant. And with a white cardstock tag, all you have to do is switch out the ribbon, button, ink, and cardstock circle to match the wrapping paper you are using.
Now I wanna hear your favorite ideas for gift wrapping! Share away.

I like to gift wrap with a color theme and homemade tags. Everything looks so nice under the tree.
We like to do the kraft paper thing too and I’ve had the kids draw, stamp or paint on it for that personal touch.
This year I’m making my own gift tags. I’m not very original, am I??? ;)
Here’s another one…use fabric scraps and fancy ribbons (i.e. not the regular curling ribbon and such) to wrap smaller items.
i’ve wrapped with kraft and painted snowmen on each present–not the fastest thing to do. this year i’m wrapping in a off white paper and stamping stockings, wreaths or mittens for color.
Um….I kinda go all out with my Christmas wrapping. I start on October 6th (done shopping on October 4th) and I make those big foofy pretty ribbon for every package. Looked kinda funny on SpongeBob paper though – LOL This year is the first year I had made gift tags – they are pretty ornate so I’m going to use some kraft or some of the inside of the busier paper that have maybe just some colored red score lines. I’ve also got some thinner patterned paper that doesn’t work for me for cards so I’m using that as wrapping paper – deja vu, think I’ve said that before here!
I love to wrap in music paper. I am a musician so I have a lot of sheet music that I copy. I save it over the year and then use it as wrapping paper. It’s eco-friendly and cute! :)
I hate to admit it….but my husband does all the wrapping! He is great at it! I get the lumps and the bumps and the mismatched lines….it is just better if he does it:)
I love things with real ribbon bows! I wrap every special gift with my ribbon stash!
we always wrap the presents in fabric reusable bags, and because we did this for a few years, they just keep getting passed back and forth. And we feel a little more earth friendly too.
hi there,
i use very plain wrapping paper (usually kraft or tissue) and then i tart up the packages with ribbon and handmade tags. i love wrapping…it is an event for me. lovely tag.

wow, love this .. the embossing is amazing!! simple sentiment
I love to wrap with plain white, or kraft paper and then accent with a bright ribbon or bow. When my kids give gifts, I encourage them to “decorate” the plain wrapper themselves with stickers and markers…they love the process and they love all the “ooohs” and “aaahhhs” from the grandparents/cousins, etc.
I love using tea towels and even bath towels to wrap gifts! Something I learned from my mother!
very pretty tag. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Thank you! I usually wanted to write in my web site something like which. Can I take portion of your post to my blog?
Spongebo and Patrick are really great characters. love them.`~-
