Etsy Roundup – Fabric Flowers

As I browsed through the jewelry sections, these gorgeous fabric flowers caught my eye.  The soft patterns and frayed edges add such a different texture and feel to a jewelry piece. Here are a few of my favorites. If you want to try your hand at fabric flowers, there are lots of great tutorials online, including this one and this one.

What is your jewelry style? Eclectic. I like mix-and-match elements and an asymmetrical look. I wear lots of neutral-colored clothes so I make jewelry with bright, stand-out colors.

If we looked into your craft closet, what would we see? An avalanche of photography, sewing, beading, card-making and quilting supplies would spill out and bury you alive. I'd take some emergency supplies if I were you.

If you were a mad scientist, what would you invent? Negative-calorie Molten Chocolate Cake.

Etsy Roundup – Hip to be Square

Oh dear… just typing the title of this post has Huey Louis and the News stuck in my head, if not for the entire day, at least until noon. I’m going to have to Google the lyrics so I can sing more than just the title to myself for a while.

While all shapes of beads are fun and appealing, I love square-shaped beads. The angular shape makes them just a little more wild and funky than their round cousins. Here are some Etsy artists who have incorporated square and rectangular shaped beads into some really fantastic jewelry designs. So while your brain is cuing up a playlist of  your favorite 80’s rock tunes, pull out your square beads and see what you’re inspired to create today.

Tales from the 4th

I caught last minute 4th of July Fever, and whipped up some easy, eclectic, and inexpensive table bling just in time for a celebratory dinner. I wish I’d gotten the idea sooner so I could have posted these earlier, but I thought I’d share my creations with you anyways as a reminder that you can bead more than just jewelry.

Describe your jewelry style: Minimalist and Mixed media. I like my jewelry to be classy enough to wear to church, but with a little indie flair.

What is your 'must-see' TV show? Pushing Daisies, Better Off Ted, Chuck, and 30 rock.

What is the strangest skill that you possess? I can fit several quarters in my belly button like a vending machine. Sadly, no candy comes out.

Father’s Day Idea #1, Part 1

Okay, so it isn’t the beloved-and-all-useful father’s day tie, but what bling could be more manly than cuff links? Who’s your daddy? Bill Gates? Chuck Yeager? John Wayne? Who ever he may be, he needs cuff links, and he needs awesome ones.

Gather your resin,  art metal clay, polymer clay, lampwork tools, some great findings, and some cuff link blanks/backs (available here, here, and here) and get creating.

Etsy Roundup – Birds of a Feather

I love feathers right now. Any sort of feather; metal, faux, real, dyed… they’re all beautiful! They are gorgeous in hair bows, earrings, decorations and more. Some crafty Etsy designers have combined beads with feathers to create these lovelies and I thought I would share my favorites with you.
