Fire Mountain Gems and Beads Contest!

We all love a good jewelry challenge and Fire Mountain Gems and Beads knows how to host the biggest and best challenge of the year. Enter one (or all) of their themed contests for a chance to win a $1,000 gift certificate…almost enough to take care of my wish list! Winning designs will be used in Fire Mountain Gems and Beads ads and other marketing materials. Which means that if you win, you might find your piece on the back cover of Bead Trends.

Current contest: CHRYSTALLIZED™ Swarovski Elements, ends September 21st.

Upcoming contests include:

  • Art Clay®, Metal Beads, Wire Work & Chain
  • Seed Beads
  • Glass
  • Gemstones
  • Pearls, Organic Beads, Ferido™ & Kato Polyclay™

Good luck! We hope to be seeing one of your pieces on our back cover soon.

Charlotte Valantine

Describe your jewelry style: Minimalist and Mixed media. I like my jewelry to be classy enough to wear to church, but with a little indie flair.

What is your 'must-see' TV show? Pushing Daisies, Better Off Ted, Chuck, and 30 rock.

What is the strangest skill that you possess? I can fit several quarters in my belly button like a vending machine. Sadly, no candy comes out.

Bead Something Different

Creativity gone stale? Beader’s block? Try beading something you wouldn’t normally bead. Your pooch might not fully appreciate his bling, but you just might make other pet owners writhe in jealousy.  Use these collars as a starting point, and make one that fits your style.

Color Palette Challenge

These pictures from the Macy’s online catalog totally felt springy and fresh.  If you’re looking for some color inspiration, try using this palette.

Jeri Huish

What is your jewelry style? Eclectic. I like mix-and-match elements and an asymmetrical look. I wear lots of neutral-colored clothes so I make jewelry with bright, stand-out colors.

If we looked into your craft closet, what would we see? An avalanche of photography, sewing, beading, card-making and quilting supplies would spill out and bury you alive. I'd take some emergency supplies if I were you.

If you were a mad scientist, what would you invent? Negative-calorie Molten Chocolate Cake.
